Carol was born on May 8, 1956, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Francis J. “Bud” and Marie E. (Probst) Bloemer. She was united in marriage to Ronald Wendt on October 7, 1977. Carol and Ron were life-long residents of Effingham and St. Anthony Bulldog fans. Watching their children, Jill and Jeff, and their grandsons, Blake and Dylan, receive exceptional educations and actively participate in tennis, golf, basketball, and baseball brought them much happiness.

Carol lived a very active life. Her action-oriented approach and her quick pace was exemplified in her daily five-mile walks, picking hundreds of gallons of blackberries, cross-stitching embroidery blocks forquilts, decorating and landscaping her home, and completing tasks within hours of the requests. Carol loved spending time with her family and close friends; her candy bar poems, cobblers, muffins, and party games were always a joy for everyone. She enjoyed spending time near water at summer pool parties, hanging out at Lake Sara, and beach family vacations. Carol’s ever-present smile, wit, and helping hand was greatly appreciated.

Her strong work ethic and customer service skills spanned a career at the previous Ramada Inn, WorldColor Press, Crossroads Bank, Meals on Wheels, and the Convention Center.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ron Wendt; daughter, Jill (Matt) Verdeyen, grandsons, Blake and Dylan Verdeyen, of Effingham; son, Jeff (Lisa Ufkes) Wendt, of Chicago; siblings, Oscar (Norma) Bloemer,Darlene (Louis) Esker, Ron (Vickie) Bloemer, Linda (Phil) Stalling, Shirley (David) Reha, Marilyn (Rem) Woodruff, Theresa (Bill) Hardiek, Rosalie (Tom) Westendorf, Patty (Joe) Jansen, Julie (Bruce) Willenborg, Connie (Darrell) Brinkmann, Cindy (Chris) Fraterrigo; and Tony (Lisa) Bloemer; father and mother-in law, Al and Millie Wendt; brother-in-law Tom (Debbe) Wendt; and sisters-in-law, Donna (Charlie) Schwerman, Cathy Rexroad, and Mary Bloemer.
