Elizabeth “Betsy” A. McBroom, 65, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 3:48 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Betsy was born on September 22, 1955, the daughter of J.B. and Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (McGilligan) McBroom. Betty was a devoted and loving mother to Betsy, after Betty’s passing in 2016, the caring and compassionate staff members of Health Care Management Corp provided Betsy a loving environment where she enjoyed playing board games, arts and crafts, cabin trips and gathering with her friends and family. Betsy also enjoyed the family and friends she made while working at Shelby County Community Services for over 40 years.

Betsy is survived by her cousin, Georjan (Dr. Andrew G.) Mitchell and her Health Care Management Corp and Shelby County Community Services family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Betty McBroom; two aunts, Doris (Dr. H.P.) Dexheimer and Ruth (Wayne) Davis; uncle, John B. McGilligan and cousin, Karl D. Dexheimer. A sincere thank you to the staff of Health Care Management Corp for their dedication to Betsy’s care and well-being over the past several years.

A gathering for friends and family will be held from 12:30-1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2021 followed by a 1:00 p.m. memorial service with Reverend Kevin Ray officiating at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Burial will take place in Jordan Cemetery in rural Shelbyville. Memorials may be made in Betsy’s honor to the donor’s favorite charity.
