Lila Lea (Verdeyen) Jones, 79, of Lakewood, IL passed away at home in her sleep, on Sunday, March 13, 2021 with her loved ones always by her side.

She was born on July 2, 1941, in Effingham, the daughter of Andrew A. and Nelli I. (Wheeler) Verdeyen. After attending Effingham schools, she married William E. Jones from Beecher City, the love of her life, in Cortina, Mississippi on July 26, 1957. After 63 years of marriage, William passed away on October 23, 2020. She loved her family, pets and plants. Lila worked at Sta Rite Ginny Lou, Brown Shoe Company and Fedders. She attended Richland Beauty College and then worked for Ginny’s Beauty Salon before owning and operating her own salon, Lila’s Unique Beauty Boutique. She was a life member of the Women of the Moose #1325 in Shelbyville, in which she held every position of officer available by her Chapter and received the Star Recorder status.

Lila is survived by her daughters: Bonnie Crandall of Shelbyville and Candy (Del) Lorton of Cowden; son, Donald (Sylvia) Jones of Shelbyville; grandchildren: Aaron and Alex Crandall, Jessica Carson, Dustin and Chet Lorton and Christopher and Chelsea Jones; 21 great-grandchildren and one due in April; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Andrew (Alberta) Verdeyen and Ken (Marilyn) Verdeyen; brotherin-law, Rick (Cindy) Jones and sister-in-law, Lara Mae Tull.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, William Jones; son, William Jones Jr.; grandson, Kraig C. Jones; parents, Andrew and Nelli Verdeyen; brothers, Donald Verdeyen and Arndt and sisters, Betty Cledg and Rose.

In keeping with Lila’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. A private family burial will take place in the Spring for both Bill and Lila which will be determined at a later date.
