Wendell A. Kemper, 65, of Neoga, IL passed away at 11:08 pm Friday, March 12, 2021 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Private family funeral services will be held. Public visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday March 19th, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Greenup, IL. Burial with Military rites will be in the Greenup Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family. Please practice social distancing and wear your mask while attending services.

Wendell was born in Mattoon, IL on September 10, 1955 to Herman Eugene & Erma Rojean (Bolen) Kemper. He married Terry Snack on July 24, 1976.

Surviving is his wife and daughters Bridget (Bobby) Adamson and Heather (Brad) McElravy; grandchildren Branden (Mara) Adamson, Trent Adamson (Macie Collins), Macey McElravy and Mya McElravy; great grandchildren Bryar Adamson, Thayer Adamson and Zayden Brummer; sisters Kathy Puetz, Nancy (Jerry) Martin and Susie (Bob) Ray; and brother Tony (Susan) Kemper.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law David Puetz.

Wendell retired from Cumberland Unit 77 after 20 years where he was the maintenance/ transportation supervisor. Wendell served on the Board for the Village of Greenup for many years. He coached baseball and softball for over 40 years. He loved spending time in the woods and on the lake trying to catch the big one. He served in the Army National Guard for 8 years and a current member of the Neoga American Legion Post #458 and the Greenup Baptist Church. Most of all Wendell loved spending time with his family and friends at the Lake house, on the ballfield, or just anywhere.
