Joann Wilson age 86 of Newton passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Joann’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Rev. Amy Jeffries officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton.

Due to Covid-19, the wearing of face coverings and social distancing is requested by the family.

Joann was born on February 15, 1934 in Oblong Township, Crawford County, Illinois the daughter of Winfield and Bertha (Resch) Koontz. On October 4, 1952, Joann married Lowell R. Wilson. He survives. Joann served as deputy assessor for the Jasper County Supervisor of Assessments Office for over twenty years until her retirement.

Joann was a faithful member of the Grace United Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time outdoors. She and Lowell enjoyed traveling and were blessed with the opportunity to travel to Europe, Mexico, and Hawaii. Her greatest love was that of being a mom, grandma and great grandma. Time spent with family was very special.

Joann will be loved and remembered by her husband Lowell R. Wilson of Newton; son Steve (Crystal) Wilson of Effingham; daughters Susan (Greg) Ikemire of Newton and Sherri (Andy) Miller of Benton, Kentucky; grandchildren Kristi (Charley) Stone and Kelly (Scott) Engstrom both of Naperville, Kevin Ikemire of Willow Hill, Luke (Lindsey Mitchell) Miller of Nashville, TN, Grant Miller of Louisville, KY and Kimberly (Justin Herboth) Clark of Watson; great-grandchildren Henry, William and Audrey Stone and McKinley Herboth; and sister Linda (Larry) Warfel of Martinsville.

Her parents, brothers Donald and Bobby Koontz, and sister Jean Addis preceded her in death.
