Paul R. Wittenberg, 94, of Lehigh Acres, FL, formerly of Stewardson, IL, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in Lake Placid, FL.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Stewardson Cemetery with Rev. Steven Becker officiating and military rites by the Stewardson American Legion Wilbur Braughton Post 611. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran School or Trinity Lutheran Church, both in Stewardson, and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Paul was born on October 2, 1926 in Stewardson, IL, the son of Albert Henry and Emma K. (Schultz) Wittenberg. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Paul married Lona Gail Doehring on January 29, 1950, and she preceded him in death on April 2, 2015. Paul was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson, IL where he served as Deacon. He was also a member of the Stewardson Volunteer Fire Department, Stewardson Lions Club, and the Stewardson American Legion Wilbur Braughton Post 611.

Paul is survived by his son, Rick Wittenberg and wife Debbie of Fort Myers, FL; brother, Lloyd Wittenberg and wife Shirley of Effingham, IL; granddaughters, Alicia McCallister and husband David of Readyville, TN, and McKenzie Wittenberg of Ft. Myers, FL; and one great grandson, Weston McCallister.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lona; brothers, George, John, Glen, Clarence and Raymond Wittenberg; and sisters, Ida Oma Ferchow and Ella Maria Falk.
