Charles Lewis Finney, age 92, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 4:25 AM Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Private graveside services will be held at the Jewett Cemetery in Jewett, Illinois with full military rites by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.  Arrangements are in the care of the Meyer Funeral Home-Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. Charles was born on November 2, 1928 the son of Samuel Leroy and Stella Mae (Ratts) Finney.  He married Betty Jane Elliott on February 25, 1955 in Casey, Illinois and she survives.  Charles served his country in the United States Army from January 1952-January 14, 1954 during the Korean War.  He worked at Norge & Fedders and retired after 37 years of service.  

Charles was a lifetime member of the Greenup VFW Post #4598 having served as commander 2 times.  He was an active volunteer for the Cumberland County Veterans Association driving for over 9 years. 

He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. 

Charles is survived by: Wife of 65 years- Betty Jane of Greenup, Illinois; 4 Children- Charles Ranon (Cheryl) Finney of Toledo, Illinois, Darren Lee Finney of Mattoon, Illinois, Duff Finney of Mattoon, Illinois and Halona Hope Michels of Toledo, Illinois; 1 Brother- Everett Dean Finney of Greenup, Illinois; 8 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and infant Great Grandson Blue.
