James Joseph "Jim" Jansen, 75, passed away Monday, January 18. 2021 at his residence in rural Neoga, Illinois.

He was born November 20, 1945 in Effingham, Illinois the son of Edward J. and Julia A. (Kralman) Jansen. Jim worked at Jansen's Garage for 15 years and was a farmer for 39 years. He was an avid Cubs fan, a member of the St. Michael The Archangel Church, the Knights Of Columbus and the Men’s Sodality all of Sigel, Illinois, the N.R.A and the Shelby County Farm Bureau. He married Marilyn Kinkelaar January 11, 1964 in Sigel, Illinois.

Mr. Jansen is survived by his wife, Marilyn Jansen of Neoga, Illinois; sons, Steven Jansen (Ellen) of Montrose, Andrew Jansen (Lisa) of Neoga, Larry Jansen (Candy) of Effingham, and Matthew Jansen (Leslie) of Dieterich; thirteen grandchildren, Jeremy Jansen, Kendra Tegeler (Dustin), Jamie Burton (John), Kelly Arrotti (John), Lee & Eric Jansen, Kristen Snyder (Aaron), Collin & Cody Jansen, Erin Connelly, Cole, Katelyn, and Lilly Jansen. Siblings, Mary Lou Gier, Renee Flach, Alan Jansen, Kurt Jansen, June Grunloh, Kent Jansen, Mike Jansen, Roy Jansen, Randy Jansen and Karl Jansen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and parents in law.

The family requests memorials be made to the St. Michael School in Sigel, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, January 22, 2021 in the St. Michael The Archangel Church in Sigel, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a wake service at 7:00PM in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery in Sigel, Illinois.
