Thelma Marie Welty, 100, of Flora, Illinois passed away at 5:19 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.

Funeral services honoring the life of Thelma will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 16, at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville, with Bruce Horsley officiating, and burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon at the funeral home where friends may call from 1:30 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or Disabled Veterans Organization. Thelma was born May 12, 1920, in Flora the daughter of Pearlie and Bessie (Tolliver) Holmes. She married Elza Welty October 23, 1938, in Olney and they shared 73 years of marriage before he preceded her in death March 14, 2012. Thelma was a homemaker and she loved to study the bible. She was an excellent cook and loved to can vegetables and produce out of her garden. She also loved to collect Angels. 

Thelma is survived by her children; Donald (Geneva) Welty, of Flora, David Welty, of Mt. Vernon, Shirley Gallaway, of Xenia, Sandra Taylor, of Buckner, Missouri, Larry Joe (Elaine) Welty, of Xenia, Glenn (Pam) Welty, of Milton, Florida, Mike (Linda) Welty, of Xenia, Joyce Panainte, of Pompano Beach, Florida, 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great great-grandchildren. 

Mrs. Welty was preceded in death by her parents, still born daughter; Louise, infant son; James Welty son; Reggie Welty, grandson; Greg Newman, daughters-in-law; Loretta Welty, Pamala Welty, sons-in-law; Lawrence Gallaway, and Robert Taylor.
