Roger Lee Austin, age 81, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 5:02 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

There will be a private family graveside service. Ron Mulvaney will be officiating. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may go to First Southern Baptist Church in Farina, Illinois or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here

Roger was born on March 20, 1939 in Shelby County, Illinois, the son of Walter S. and Hannah E. (Parrill) Austin. He married Gladys Yingst on September 17, 1988 in Mattoon, Illinois. Roger and Gladys owned Austin’s Resale shop in Mattoon, Illinois for several years. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion Post #1168 and First Southern Baptist Church in Farina, Illinois. He served in the United States Army. He enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Austin of Edgewood, Illinois; step-son, Harold “Billy” Cox (wife Tracy) of Warrensburg, Illinois; step-daughters, Pauline Sapp (husband Joie) of Mason, Illinois and Pansy Limes (husband John) of Edgewood, Illinois; 6 step grandchildren and 10 step great -grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hannah Austin; brother, Ronnie Austin; sisters, Bonnie Worker, Helen Miller, and Dorothy Seely.
