Larry Eugene Shew, age 78, of Casey, Illinois, passed away at 2:26 PM Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.

Private family services will be held at Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois. Public graveside service will be held at 11:15 AM Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the Honey Cemetery in Bogota, Illinois.  In loving memory of Larry, memorials may be made to Scott Avenue Christian Church – Food Pantry and can be mailed to the Shew Family 13390 North 1275th Street Newton, Illinois 62448. Larry was born on September 10, 1942, in Bogota, Illinois, the son of William Lavern and Helen Elizbabeth (Crouse) Shew. He married Janet Lorraine Sallee, and she preceded him in death on April 19, 2014. Larry graduated from Newton Community High School in 1960. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves from March 2, 1962, until his honorable discharge on September 1, 1962. Larry was a lifelong farmer and currently worked for Honselman Farms in Casey, Illinois. Larry was a member of the White Oak Church of God in Casey, Illinois, and attended Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois. He was a member of the American Legion and had served on the Jasper County Fair board for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illinois Illini basketball fan.

Larry is survived by: Children – Brad (Becky) Shew of Toledo, Illinois; Tammy (Dave) Rudolphi of Newton, Illinois; and Jennifer (Chad) Marshall of Newton, Illinois; Grandchildren – Brayson Shew, Emma Rudolphi, Lexi Marshall and Layna Marshall; Special Companion – Sharon Fehrenbacher of Newton, Illinois; Siblings – Barbara Gill of Cisne, Illinois; Kenny (Cathy) Shew of Newton, Illinois; and Rex Shew (friend P.J. Lehmann) of Newton, Illinois.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janet, sister-in-law Teresa Shew and brother-in-law Bob Gill.
