Jim G. Horn (82) of Effingham

Jim G. Horn, 82, of Effingham, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Carle Memorial Hospital in Champaign. 

A private family funeral service will be held at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Effingham Crisis Nursery.  

Jim was born on August 20, 1938, in Mattoon, the son of Clarence and Cora (Jones) Horn. He was united in marriage to Judy Cain on November 15, 1996. 

Jim served his country in the Army and was stationed in Germany.  He worked for CIPS for 41 years as a lineman. Jim always enjoyed frequenting the casinos, especially the craps table, and attending the Effingham Elks to play a game of poker with his friends. To say he enjoyed sports is an understatement; he was passionate about all sports, especially Chicago Bears, St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.  

Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Judy; children: Maria (Phil) Peak of Champaign, Jon Horn of Teutopolis, Joan (Hayden) Noel, of Champaign, and Michael Horn (special friend Ashley Buehnerkemper) of Teutopolis; Pam (Doug) Heuerman, Robert (Carrie) Walker, Crystal (Tom) Vogt, Mike (Beth) Walker of Effingham; 25 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents;, brother John Horn, sister Janet Lee, brothers-in-law Carol Lee, Louie Schoemaker, Bill Arnold, Larry Cain, Harold Cain, and sister-in-law June Cain.
