Mildred Ilene Blake, age 91, of Yale, Illinois, passed away at 3:30 AM Sunday, December 7, 2020, at Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation in Casey, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 14, 2020, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left by clicking here.
Mildred was born on May 18, 1929, in the Advance Community of Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Sie and Flosie (Cramer) Chapman. She married Lester Blake, and he preceded her in death.
Mildred worked at E.R. Moore Cap and Gown Factory in Newton, Illinois, for many years. She attended Cummins Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years.
Mildred enjoyed sewing, playing her guitar and going to yard sales.
Mildred is survived by: Children – Cynthia Dodd of Marshall, Illinois; Alden (Debbie) Blake of Yale, Illinois; Lyle (Linda) Blake of Yale, Illinois; Retha Cross of Martinsville, Illinois; Karl (Jean) Blake of Yale, Illinois; and Anita (Paul) Soltwedel of Effingham, Illinois; Brothers – Kenneth Chapman of Parshall, North Dakota and Dale Chapman of Santa Monica, California; 12 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; and Several Great-Great Grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Bill Cross and several brothers and sisters.
