Ronald E. Kroenlein, 76, of Watson, IL, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Private family services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery in Watson.

Ronald was born December 20, 1943, in Neoga, IL, the son of Donald and Opal (Boswell) Kroenlein. He married Barbara A. Senior on February 27, 1965.

Ron worked as a meat cutter at several grocery stores and retired at Save A Lot. He loved horseback riding, playing the guitar with friends, and working outside with his grandson Nick. He was also a huge Chicago Cubs fan. Above all, Ron was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Ron is survived by his wife, Barbara Kroenlein of Watson; children, Rodney (Sarah) Kroenlein of Carbondale and Kristi (Rick) Nelson of Beecher City; grandchildren, Desiree Nelson and Nick Nelson; step-grandchildren, Tristan Lingle and Juliette Lingle; and siblings, Linda Willis and Barbara Dolan (Dan).

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother in infancy, Terry Kroenlein; and brother-in-law, Richard Willis.
