Alma Lee Braun, 86 of Effingham, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020, at Willowbrook Memory Support Residences in Effingham.

Private family services will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.

Alma was born July 31, 1934, in Jasper County, the daughter of Norman and Ruby (Parker) Beers. She married Maurice Braun on April 17, 1954, and he preceded her in death on January 22, 1993. Alma was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, playing cards, and spending time with her family.

Alma is survived by her five children, Cindy (Mark) Mattes, David Braun, Roger (Pam) Braun, Melissa (Scott) Whitney, and Darrin (Stacia) Braun; grandchildren, Jamie (David) Turer, Scott Mattes, Kim (Carlo) Cappella, Phillip (Andrea) Braun, Alex Braun (Liz VanSchoyck), Heather Whitney (Christopher Franco), Savannah Whitney, Braydon Braun, Sierra Braun, Kaelyn Braun; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Larry (LeEtta) Beers and sister, Alyene (Charles) Althoff.

Alma’s family would like to thank her caretaker, Martha McGowan, as well as the staff of Willowbrook and St. Anthony Memorial Hospital.
