Myrtle C. Savickas, 93, of Effingham, IL, died on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at her daughter’s home.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, IL with Fr. Mark Tracy. Interment will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Chicago at a later date. Johnson Home Funeral in Effingham, IL, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Myrtle was born on December 6, 1926, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Adam and Christine (Jensen) LaVan. She married Edward R. Savickas on July 26, 1947, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2002.

Myrtle worked as a beautician for over 20 years in Chicago before retiring with her husband to Effingham, IL in 1983. She enjoyed playing with her great-grandchildren, gardening, quilting, crocheting, shopping for antiques, throwing parties, and having a 4 p.m. Vodka Martini every day. She was a member of the Effingham Senior Center Quilting Club where she had many friends. She was a lifelong, faithful Catholic and current member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Myrtle is survived by her son, Chris Savickas of Cape Coral, FL; daughter, Belle Brandenburger (Peter) of Effingham; former daughter-in-law, Kathy Savickas of Chicago; five grandchildren, Chris Savickas Jr. (Renee) of Chicago, Cherie Savickas (Kevin Layton) of Ringwood, Boone Brandenburger (Pamelis) of Effingham, Noah Brandenburger (Holly) of Effingham, and Timber Miller (Josh) of Altamont; and 15 great-grandchildren, Chris Savickas III, Dominic Savickas, Katie Marsala, Tommy Marsala, Sean Layton, Samantha (Alex) Brown, Alexander Brandenburger, Adam Brandenburger, Andrew Brandenburger, Anthony Brandenburger, Wylie Miller, Rory Miller, Daisy Miller, Gracie Jo Miller, and Chloe Brandenburger.
