Velma Wagner, 101 of Shumway,  passed away November 18, 2020 at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga.

There will be a walk-through Tuesday, November 24 from noon to 1 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham. Private family services will be held with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Effingham. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting.

She was born October 13, 1919 in Watson. Velma was married in 1936 to Adam Wagner and was a lifelong resident of Shumway. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Effingham where she was active in Lydia Guild, LWML, and braille projects. Velma loved to cook, bake, and sew. She was a lifelong quilter, which she learned to do as a child. Velma made many hand stitched quilts for her family and entered some of her favorites at the fair where she received several blue ribbons.
 
She is survived by her children, Gene (Judy) Wagner, Garret (Teresa) Wagner and Priscilla (Les) Sipe; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Joan Victoria; brother, Victor Wenthe and sister, Aileen Lewis.
