Sandra McFarland (71) of Altamont

Sandra Jo “Sandy” McFarland, 71, of Altamont, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

A private family graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery, Altamont with Roger McIntire officiating. Memorials are requested to the Effingham County Humane Society. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Sandy was born on Monday,October 10, 1949 in Highland, IL to Maynard and Bernice (Clanton) Kuhn. She married Gary F. McFarland on June 24, 1967. Sandy was a registered nurse having worked at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Fayette County Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon and she retired from the Effingham Surgery Center.

She is survived by her husband of over 53 years, Gary of Altamont; sons, Bryan (Debbie) McFarland and Jason (Sara) McFarland all of Altamont; grandchildren, Taylor Margaret McFarland, Mitchell Gary McFarland, both of Altamont and Shelby N. McFarland, Tacoma, Washington; brothers, Jim (Diane) Kuhn of Pocahontas, Butch (Judy) Kuhn of Trenton, Mike (Sherry) Kuhn of New Douglas, and Dan (Sandy) Kuhn of Pocahontas; sisters, Janice (Kenny) Stevenson of Cape Coral, FL, Sue (Al) Wellen of Highland, Cindy (Ron) Bachiler of Greenville, and Julie (Mark) Atchison of Pocahontas.
