Roy Michael "Mike" Smith (74) of Shelbyville, formerly of Beecher City

Roy Michael “Mike” Smith, 74, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Beecher City, IL, passed away at 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 in HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the family of Roy Michael Smith and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Mike was born on June 9, 1946 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the son of Roy Siebert and Dorothy (Smith) Smith. He attended Ramsey High School and was a member of the Class of 1964. Mike worked as a machinist for Caterpillar in Decatur, IL until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL. Mike was an avid fisherman, fishing on Lake Shelbyville and other area lakes. He married Donna Jean (Christian) Barringer on November 24, 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Sandy Dunn (Joe) of Decatur, IL, Chris Gadberry (Mark) of Decatur, IL and Rhonda Bray (Jim) of Warrensburg, IL; step-sons, Brent Barringer (Bridget) of Tower Hill, IL and Mike Barringer (Lori) of Bethany, IL; step-daughter, Lynnette Barringer of Tower Hill, IL; sister, Patty Bennett (Pat) of Florida; six grandchildren, Dylan, Malea, Allison, Maggie, Jacob and Jax; and five step-grandchildren, Aaron, Rachel, Bradley, Cooper and Luci; six great grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-brother, Skyler Smith.
