Vance Allen Gorrell age 65 of Newton passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Fairfield, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Vance’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Crain Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Matson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery, Bogota, Illinois. The family requests face masks be worn and social distancing be practiced while in attendance.

Vance was born on July 29, 1955 in Newton, Illinois the son of L. Glenn Gorrell and Elizabeth “Betty” Kerner Owens. Vance was a retired truck driver. Through the years, he drove for many companies with Griffith Trucking being the last. A member of the southern branch of the Spiritual Disciples, Vance attended many of the area churches with the disciples. He loved to ride his motorcycle and enjoyed bow hunting. He often could be found at the “liar’s table” at the bowling alley sharing in one of the many conversations of the day.

Vance will be loved and remembered by his daughter Wendy (Chet) Dobbins of Wheeler; grandchildren Tori, Sydney, and Ellie Dobbins; siblings Theresa (Mike) McKee of Newton; Rory “Bubba” Gorrell of Rose Hill; Trenton (Emily) Gorrell of Pennsylvania; Chuck (Cindy) Gorrell of Virginia; Lindsey (Nate) Miller of Tennessee; step-mother Judith Ann Gorrell of Ashmore; step-sisters Denise (Gerald) Ochs of Newton and Evelyn (John) Germer of Florida and special friend Sherry Pather of Shelbyville.

His parents, brother Bruce Gorrell, step-father Harry Owens and step-sister Peggy Williams preceded him in death.
