Edith “Edie” Williams Arrasmith Allen, 86, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

A public walk-through visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Private family services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Edith was born on February 22, 1934, in Fairfield, Wayne County, IL, to Richard and Hester (Robbins) Williams. She married Jack Arrasmith on October 1, 1959 in San Diego, CA, and then she married Donald Allen on December 31, 1981 in Effingham, IL. He passed away on November 8, 2011. Edith had three children: Diana, Christopher, and Cindy. She was an employee of Martin’s IGA, World Color Press, and an Avon Consultant for 40 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering at The Cross and for hospice. Edie was known as the “Shoebox Lady” for her dedication and time spent wrapping shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. This act of kindness lead her to receiving the Angels Among Us Award in 2015. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Effingham, where she was the Special Ed Class Director for many years.

Edie is survived by her children, Diana Delnero (special partner, Roger Matyas) of St. Elmo, IL, Christopher (Ana) Arrasmith of Ewa Beach, HI, and Cindy (Jerry) Meinhart of Dieterich; grandchildren, Aaron Arrasmith, Jacob (Stacy) Nelson, Sarah Nelson (Jarod Lin), Perry Arrasmith, Nathan Arrasmith, and Craig (fiancée, Holly Vogt) Neves; great-grandchildren, Gaddison Goeckner, Weston Goeckner, Brody Nelson, Layla Nelson, and Avery Nelson; sister-in-law, Pat Williams of Hermet, CA; two half-sisters, Barbara Kuabacki of Long Beach, CA and Lois Owsley of San Marcas, CA; and special friends, Mark and Dawn Goeckner and family, and Patty Winn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; grandson, Matthew Hightower; and brother, Don Williams.
