Alberta G. Wilson, age 90, of Effingham, Illinois, and former resident of rural Newton, Illinois (Lis Community), passed into eternal life at 2:40 AM Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, Illinois.

A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Illinois, with Rev. Nathan Jeffries officiating. In loving memory of Alberta, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Alberta was born in rural Dieterich, Illinois, on July 1, 1930, the daughter of George W. and Lola (Harris) Cole. She married Duane E. Wilson on May 24, 1947, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1999.

Alberta was a loving and devoted wife and mother, selflessly caring for others as well as her family.  She was a hardworking homemaker tending her home, garden, and farm.  She was a long-time member of the former Wheeler Community United Methodist Church.

Alberta is survived by: son Michael Wilson, wife Nancy, and daughters Emily and Erin Wilson of Quincy, Illinois, along with one daughter Brenda Conrad, husband David, and children Joseph, wife Michelle, Steven, and Sarah Conrad of Flora, Illinois. Great grandchildren include Andrew, Tyler, Lucas, Shelbi, and Elli Conrad, all of Flora, Illinois. Alberta was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, as well as her parents, brothers Allen and George (Tom) Cole, and sisters Adeline Flowers, Rosemary Craig, and Ursala Russell.
