Deloris May Hoeffliger Allen, 94, of Effingham, IL, passed away peacefully at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL following a decline in health on Sunday, August 23, 2020.

Private family funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.

Deloris was born on March 9, 1926, in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of John and Viola (Gaddis) Hirtzel. She married Warren Hoeffliger and worked alongside him dairy farming early in their marriage. They had four children, two boys and two girls. She was widowed in 1999 and a few years later married Robert Allen until his passing. Deloris was faithful to God and a good Christian wife. She was the church secretary at Watson Baptist Church, attended First Baptist Church, Effingham, and worked at the Glove Factory, Schottman’s Office Supply, Sears, and J.C. Penney. Deloris loved to bake, can foods and was a wonderful seamstress. She loved her family and friends.

Deloris is survived by her sons, Tommy (Joyce) Hoeffliger and Roger (Carol) Hoeffliger both of Effingham; daughter, Donna (Rick) Solice of Texarkana, TX; son-in-law, Donald Rodewald; grandchildren, Michelle Bendikas, Nik Kyle, Rodger Kyle, Matthew Rodewald, and Melanie Rodewald; 5 great-grandchildren; step-children, Denise (Chuck) Hall and Lee (Kristen) Allen; step-grandchild, Harris Allen; brother, Terry (JoAnn) Hirtzel of Texas; and sister-in-law, Betty Hirtzel of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands; daughter, Deana Rodewald; grandson, Rick Kyle; and brothers, Kenneth Hirtzel and Melvin Hirtzel.
