Lloyd L. Newberry, 78, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

A Knights of Columbus Rosary and 4th Degree Chalice Service will begin at 11 a.m. with funeral services to follow Friday, August 21, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday prior to services at the funeral home.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family requests to please wear a mask to all services and follow social distancing guidelines.

Lloyd was born on March 26, 1942, in Mattoon, IL, the son of Lloyd E. and Helen (Cole) Newberry. He married Judith A. Schmidt on March 13, 1976 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. She preceded him in death on September 7, 2016.

Lloyd especially enjoyed being a grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed trail riding, traveling, bowling, gardening, and going to auctions. Lloyd volunteered at the Effingham County Fish Organization and Special Olympic Bowling. He retired as a transport driver for Alliance Imaging. After retirement, he enjoyed working at Dust and Sons delivering parts. He was a member of the United States Bowling Congress, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and a Fourth Degree member of the Effingham Knights of Columbus #665.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Sara (Stephen Harvath) Newberry of Maplewood, MO; son, Jim Newberry of Effingham; daughter, Vicki (Jeff) Kirk of Herrick; grandchildren, Ashley Cervi, Ian Kirk, Wade Newberry, Julian Clavenna, Malcom Clavenna, Juniper Newberry-Harvath, Misti Kirk, and Savannah Kirk; great-grandchildren, Evelynn Cervi, Everhett Cervi, Aria Cervi, and Cooper Brewer; brothers, William Newberry of Tampa, FL; uncle, Ernie Newberry of Mattoon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; sister, Ginger Gieris: and brother, Steve Newberry.
