Stella T. Westendorf (96) of Effingham

Stella T. Westendorf, 96, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Lakeland Nursing Home in Effingham.  

A public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at St. Aloysius Church, Bishop Creek. Stella’s family requests that everyone practice social distancing and wear a mask. A private funeral mass will be held for her family with burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Meals on Wheels. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting with arrangements. Stella, the daughter of Clem and Josephine (Feldhake) Vogt, was born June 10, 1924. She married Ferd Westendorf on October 5, 1946 and he preceded her in death on August 31, 1993. She was a member of the St. Isidore Ladies Sodality and a charter member of the Teutopolis CD of A. 

Stella is survived by her two sons, Jim (Nancy) Westendorf and Larry (Rose) Westendorf of Dieterich; five daughters, Marilyn (Larry) Cohorst and Alice (Tim) Lidy of Wheeler, Dolores (Alf) Will of Montrose, Martha (Herb) Deimel of Ingraham, and Sandy (Tom) Thull of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; 29 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and 7 step-great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Clem Vogt and Bernard Vogt, brother-in-law Vincent Westendorf, and sister-in-law, Marcella Vogt. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter-in-law; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence (Bud) and Dolores Vogt, Paul Vogt, and sisters, Sr. Mary Ann Vogt, Ann and Lawrence Ruholl, and Catherine Westendorf; sister-in-laws, Shirley Vogt, Doris Vogt and Barbara Vogt.
