Donald Eugene Powers, 64, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Kevin Woods officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday August 10, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to American Kidney Foundation, American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.

Don was born on August 8, 1955 in Fort Eustis, VA, the son of Darrell and Zelma Eileen (Donnel) Powers. He graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1973 and from Lake Land College in 1975. Don also helped teach classes on Diesel Ag Power Technology and John Deere Technology at Lake Land College. He married Marla K. Stevens on September 29, 1979. Don began working for Terra International, near Findlay, IL. He later became the shop foreman for John Deere in Shelbyville, where he worked for 23 years. Don then worked for Fred Naber for 15 years before his retirement. He enjoyed working as a truck inspecting technician at the OMRO Mud Races near Shelbyville and also enjoyed helping work on tractors for tractor pulling competitions.

He is survived by his son, Adam Powers of Shelbyville; daughter, Kayla Carlock (Jerome) of Shelbyville, IL; father, Darrell Powers, of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, John Powers (Bonnie) of Windsor, IL, Rick Powers (Cathy) of St. Joe, IL, and Jim Powers (Bonnie) of Findlay, IL; sisters, Cindy Johnson of Shelbyville, IL and Bonnie Sue White of Arcola, IL; sister-in-law, Carol Powers of Shelbyville, IL; three grandchildren, Payton Lynn Mae Powers, Remington Eugene Loren Carlock, and Maci Kay Eve Carlock all of Shelbyville, IL; and step-granddaughter, Gabriel Ann Carlock of Wood River, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marla Powers on February 17, 2011; mother, Eileen Powers; brother, Tim Powers; sister, Julie Powers; and sister-in-law, Lana Powers.
