David L. “Dave” Mars, 70, of Mattoon, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, Mattoon,IL.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Robison Creek Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Ron Brown officiating and military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Shelby County Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Dave was born on May 25, 1950 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Noble Francis and Lina Emogene (Harvey) Mars. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the class of 1969.
Dave was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.He went on to work in the warehouse at International Paper, retiring in 2004. Dave always enjoyed watching Westerns on TV.
Dave is survived by his son, David Ryan Mars of Mattoon, IL; daughters, Kimberly Lyons of Mattoon, IL, Nicole Orsborn of Lafayette, IN, and Madison Orsborn of Mattoon, IL; brothers, Wayne Mars of Shelbyville, IL, Larry Mars (Alice)of Neoga, IL, and Keith Mars of Cowden, IL; sister, Judy Brown (Mark) of Pana, IL; three grandchildren, Eisley Lyons, Kyler Orsborn, and Josiah Lyons; and special friend, Wanda Walker of Mattoon, IL.
