Forrest was born in Effingham, IL, on March 6, 1931, to Russell and Imogene Hankins. He married Evelyn Donsbach on October 13, 1949 at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Effingham, IL. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2010.

Surviving are his children, David (Sharon) Hankins of Eva, TN, Doug (Nancy) Hankins of Altamont, Danny Hankins of Lake Sara, Linda Niebrugge of Lake Sara, and Dwane Hankins of Ocala, FL; 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and sister, Irene Barnick of Monticello.

Forrest was a farmer as well as working at Fedders for years and then at World Color in Effingham. He instilled the same work ethic in his children. His greatest joy was his family. He took great pride in his children, and went boating many weekends on Lake Sara, and of course, the grandchildren could light up his world.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; brothers, Charles Hankins and Louis Hankins both of Shumway; and son-in-law, Jim Niebrugge of Effingham.

A special thanks to Brenda Starwalt, his caretaker for the last few years. We are thankful for her compassion and loving care of Forrest.
