Clara Sandschafer Martinez (62) of Teutopolis

Clara Marie (Sandschafer) Martinez, 62 of Rantoul, formerly of Teutopolis, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020 at OSF Medical Center in Urbana.
Private family services will be held with burial in the St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis with military rites. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis.
Clara was born October 6, 1957 in Effingham, the daughter of the late Clem J. and Cecilia G. (Grunloh) Sandschafer.
Clara proudly served her country for 11 years, earning the rank of Sergeant in the US Army. She loved attending the large Sandschafer family gatherings and playing hours of pinochle. She welcomed family and friends and was always open to anybody. Clara had the most infectious laugh, had a big heart, and loved giving and receiving hugs. She had a playful demeanor, enjoyed visiting casinos, and got especially excited if she found Peach Crown. Clara cherished her family and intensely loved them, especially her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. She was immensely loved by her brothers and sisters and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Clara is survived by her son, Clemente (Donna) Martinez of Rantoul; grandchildren, Kevin and Cecilia; siblings, Joseph (Rita) Sandschafer of Dixon, Bernard (Mary) Sandschafer of Effingham, Dennis (Deb) Sandschafer of Effingham, Mary Ann (Joe) Niccum of Teutopolis, Jane (Mike) Green of Troy and Joyce (Philip) Burke of Teutopolis.
