Lawrence Edward “Larry” Roewe, 76, of Effingham, Illinois, passed into his loving Savior’s arms on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was surrounded by his wife Connie of 54 years and his 7 children in his final days.

Private family services will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Lawrence was born on September 23, 1943, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Norman Sr. and Margaret (McAtee) Roewe. He married Connie J. Dahmer and she survives.

His faith was his greatest gift. He spent his life working with Marriage Encounter, Crusillo, Haiti missions, prison ministry, as a scripture rosary leader, lector, Pre-Cana teacher and worked at St. Anthony Hospital where he was loved by all. He has been and still is loved by many family and friends that have prayed him into God’s hands.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Roewe of Effingham; children, Lisa (husband, Vince) Storm of Teutopolis, Debbie (husband, Sean) Myers of Mattoon, Janet (husband, Thad) Bergfeld of Teutopolis, Kevin (wife, Jen) Roewe of Effingham, Susan (husband, Andy) Gramza of Trinity, Florida, Jenny Bennett (fiancée, John Gordon) of Spring Hill, Florida, and Mike (wife, Elana) Roewe of Charleston; brother, Norman Jr. (wife, Phyllis) Roewe of St. Louis, Missouri; 22 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His father and mother preceded him in death along with many angels in heaven.
