Joyce Lavern Swick, age 92, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 3:15 PM Sunday, May 10, 2020, at Newton Care Center.

Private family services will be held at Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Chapel Cemetery near Falmouth, Illinois. In loving memory of Joyce, memorials may be made to dedicated staff of Newton Care Center and mailed to the Swick Family, 11205 North State Highway 130, Newton, Illinois, 62448. The funds will be used for the dedicated staff of the COVID-19 team, who have spent countless hours caring for the nursing home residents. Joyce was born on February 21, 1928, in Granite City, Illinois, the daughter of Russell Newton and Lorene (Hanson) Bohannen. She married Donald Roy Swick on October 5, 1946, at Rose Hill, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on September 13, 1998. Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was strong in her faith and a member of the Central Christian Church in Newton. Joyce enjoyed bottle collecting and putting together puzzles.

Joyce is survived by: Children – Russell Swick of Decatur, Illinois; Ronald (Becky) Swick, Donald (Marilyn) Swick, Roger (Patti) Swick all of Newton, Illinois; and Beth Anne (Tim) Biggs of Ballwin, Missouri; Grandchildren – Timothy (Kristin) Swick, Jeremy (Christine) Swick, Justin (Jaime) Swick, Travis (Sierra) Swick, Caleb (Bridget) Swick, Jessica (Bill) Flowers, Aaron (Jessica) Swick, Kiley (Ryan) Rawson, Nathan (Lisa) Bergbower, Shelton (Shelby) Biggs; Great Grandchildren – Madeline Swick, Charlotte Swick, Catherine Swick, Shane Swick, Henry Swick, Amelia Swick, Stori Swick, Scotlyn Swick, Olivia Flowers, Isaac Flowers, Harper Swick, Savannah Rawson, Jagger Bergbower, Maddux Bergbower, and Noxx Bergbower; Brother – Tom (Connie) Bohannen of Cissna Park, Illinois.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law Judy Swick and an infant sister Mary Bohannen.
