John Wesley "Wes" White (86) of rural Altamont

On the morning of Friday, April 24, 2020, John Wesley “Wes” White, 86, of rural Altamont, IL, went to his Heavenly home to be with his Lord Jesus. Wes passed away at home with family by his side.

Private family services will be held with burial in Watson Cemetery in Watson, IL. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Wes was born May 15, 1933 in Effingham County, IL, the son of John and Magoline “Tootie” (Davis) White. Wes lived most of his life in Jackson Township where he built his home, farmed and tended to his cows, while also working and retiring from Fedders of Effingham.

Wes married Rheba Joyce Ealy on October 5, 1956 at the Watson Baptist Church. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2016. Rheba preceded Wes in death on January 4, 2017.

Wes leaves behind daughters, Tammy (David) Collins of Watson and Taurina (Tim) Rardin of Parrish, Florida; his beloved grandsons, Blake Rardin who is serving in the United States Navy, and Tommy (Amber) Rardin of North Carolina; siblings, Robert (Mary) White, Roxanna Osborn, Myron White, Stanley (Thelma) White, and Rita (Steve) Ebbs; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Dean (Marilyn) Bushue and Don (Judy) Ealy; and sister-in-law, June White.

Wes was preceded in death by the love of his life Rheba; parents, John and Magoline “Tootie” White; brother, Brance White; brother-in-law, Calvin Osborn; and sisters-in-law, Sharon Bushue and Gail White.

Wes was very active and outgoing until the last few years of his life when he was curtailed by Parkinson’s disease. Wes truly treasured life with his family and friends, especially his time with his grandsons who meant the world to him. He had a strong love for country music and enjoyed performing in several bands during his lifetime.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests fruit trees or bushes or donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Lincolnland Hospice. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here
