In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Effingham Public Library to honor Betty’s eighty five year passion for reading, learning, and sharing. Those who knew her will remember her unconditional love for her family and friends, generous charitable giving, infectious laughter, unmatched pie baking ability, competitive card playing, loyalty to her sport teams, volunteer work at the library and South Side School, and her ageless beauty. Betty touched many lives with her beautiful spirit. Her light will never be diminished and will live eternally in the hearts of her family and friends. We will all try to listen a little deeper, love a little harder, and be a little kinder.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here
