Dolores P. Will, 100, of Effingham, formerly of Teutopolis, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lurie Children's Campaign or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Dolores was born January 3, 1920 in Teutopolis, the daughter of William and Mary (Wendt) Buhnerkempe. At the age of 4, her mother passed away. She then went to live with her brother, Ed and Agnes (Thoele) Buhnerkempe of Lillyville. She attended school at Sacred Heart School in Lillyville. At the age of 18, she moved to Chicago and worked as nanny/housekeeper until she returned to Teutopolis to marry Vincent Will on May 4th, 1940. While raising a family, she worked in the dietary department of St. Anthony Hospital for 15 years. In addition, she served her church in many capacities as a member of the Secular Franciscans, Perpetual Adoration at St. Anthony Hospital and participated in the March For Life in Washington DC. She was known as an excellent cook, seamstress and quilter. She was a fun loving, good friend to many. What shined through the most was her undying love and dedication to her family.

She is survived by eight daughters and two sons, Carol (Wilbert, dec) Niebrugge, Effingham; Jean (Robert) Reed, Decatur; Pauline (Jim) Ready, Charleston; Linda (Nick, dec) Plesha, Effingham; David (Cindy) Will, Peoria; Steven (Fe) Will, Dallas Tx; Connie (Donald) Worman, Effingham; Janet (Tony) Esker, Teutopolis; Judy (Richard) Slater, St. Charles, Mo; and Brenda Stevens, Teutopolis.

Also surviving are 35 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special nephew and niece, Larry (Lucille) Buhnerkempe of Effingham; Wilma (Laverne, dec) Buhnerkempe, Teutopolis; sisters-in-law, Mary Hoelscher, Virginia Will, Marquerite Will and Theresa Probst.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ed (Agnes)and Frank (Maime) Buhnerkempe; sisters, Mathilda( Martin) Swingler, Edith( Edward) Busse and Frances Buhnerkempe; grandsons, Douglas Niebrugge, Jason Slater and Will Esker; sons-in-law, Wilbert Niebrugge and Nick Plesha. Special nephews, Arthur and Laverne Buhnerkempe. In-laws, Peter and Frances Will and numerous brothers/sisters-in-law.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to her caregivers, Judy, Linda, Donna, Alex, Christine, Crystal, Charlene, Janice, Nancy; HSHS Hospice staff especially primary nurses, Krista, Rachael and Sherry.
