Deloris Jean Staley age 82 of Newton went to her heavenly home on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Newton Care Center, Newton, Illinois.

Private family services will be held to celebrate Deloris’ life. Interment will be in the Chapel Cemetery, Falmouth, Illinois. Memorial gifts in honor of Deloris may be made to the Activity Department of the Newton Care Center.

Born on January 12, 1938, Deloris was one of seven children born to Alton Dee and Byrdean (French) Elmore. She married Paul Dane Staley on September 8, 1956. He preceded her in death in 1995. Deloris spent her life as a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Falmouth Church of Christ for thirty-nine years. She later attended the First Baptist Church and Potter’s House Ministries in Newton.

Deloris lived her life by faith. She loved to study the Bible, attend and host Bible studies and be a witness for Jesus. She enjoyed writing, listening to Christian music, entertaining family and friends, and encouraging others in their daily lives. An animal lover, Deloris had many pet dogs and cats throughout the years.

Deloris will be loved and remember by her children Pauline Johnson of Michigan; David Paul (Melissa) Staley and Douglas Edward (Lana) Staley both of Newton, Matthew Gene (Janie) Staley of Missouri; grandchildren Daniel, Stephen, Samuel, Joseph, Sarah, Kelli, Heather, Jake, Harold, Kayetta, Lane, Micah, Joelle, Anna, Matthias, Lydia, Gloria, Cora, Eliza, Levi, Sadie, Hope and Judah; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; brothers Carson Elmore of North Carolina and Larson Elmore of Colorado and sister Metta Lou Karn of Strasburg.

Her parents, husband, grandchildren Rachel and Shawn and brothers Abraham, Byron, and Larry Elmore preceded her in death.

Deloris enjoyed the friendships she formed with the residents and staff of the Newton Care Center. She lovingly referred to them as her extended family. The Staley family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Newton Care Center for their kindness and care shown to their mother.
