Nancy J. Arnold, 66, of Brownstown, died at 7:38 a.m. Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 29 at Fairview Cemetery, rural St. Elmo. There will be a dinner following the graveside services at the Brownstown Golden Years. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or to Helping Hands Food Pantry.

Nancy Joan Arnold was born on Friday, July 17, 1953 in Shelbyville, the daughter of the late Preslie and Lillie Irene (Badman) Reed. She married David Arnold on August 18, 1973. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, rural St. Elmo. She was a Girl Scout leader when her children were young and a volunteer with the Brownstown S.C.C. and later on the Helping Hands Food Pantry. She was also a member of the IEA and NEA. During her working career she was a cook in the St. Elmo School District, a part-time cook and custodian in the Brownstown school district, a caregiver at Sugar Sweet Retreat, Brownstown, and had been employed at the Altamont Garment Factory.

Nancy is survived by her husband of over 46 years, David of Brownstown; her daughters, Tina Wolfe of St. Peters, MO and Cindy (Brandon) Hall of O’Fallon, MO; brothers, Leslie Reed and Larry Reed of St. Elmo; half- brother Allen (Marilyn) Wente of Effingham; sister, Linda (Mike) Rider of Maple City, MI; grandchildren, Winston and Phoenix Hall and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson Christopher Wolfe.
