Rose Mary Schlanser, 80, of Mode, IL passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL with her beloved son by her side.
 
Rose Mary was born on January 25, 1940, in rural Mode, a twin born to Elmer and Berdie (Brown) Mahnke. She attended local country schools and Cowden High School.  Rose Mary and George Schlanser were united in holy matrimony on December 17, 1971. Together they raised one son, Mark and worked alongside one another on the family farm. George preceded her in death on July 11, 2003.
 
Rose Mary enjoyed riding her ATV on the trails of the family farm with her loved ones and her beloved dogs. She could also be found at the local country music shows. Rose Mary was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Cowden.
 
She is survived by her son, Mark (Victoria) Schlanser; granddaughters: Brittany (Jimmy) Congenie and Jacqueline (Scott) Wehrle; great-grandchildren: Bentyn Congenie, Brinley Gill, Brantley Wiley, River Wehrle and Pilot Wehrle all of Mode; sister, Betty Mahnke of Stewardson; brother, Fred (Barb) Mahnke of Shelbyville.
 
Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Berdie Mahnke; husband, George Schlanser; three brothers: Jimmy Brown, Albert Mahnke, Kenneth Mahnke and grandson, Steven Schlanser.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden with Reverend Darrell Hinkle officiating. Burial will take in the Schlanser Family Farm Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden. Memorials may be made in Rose Mary’s name to the Pregnancy Resource Center of Shelbyville.
