Juanita “Billie” Tanner, age 85 of Effingham, passed away peacefully in the presence of family Sunday morning, February 9, 2020 at her residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with entombment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Billie’s family and friends will serve as her pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Juanita was born January 12, 1935 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Herbert and Frances Cecil. She married Fred A. Tanner on December 25, 1953 at St. Stevens Cathedral in Owensboro, Kentucky. He preceded her in death in 2011.

Juanita was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a homemaker, babysitter and beloved friend to many. She enjoyed activities like gardening, cooking and baking delicious treats for family and members of her community.

Juanita is survived by her three children, Vicki (Rodney) Pearce, Fred “Butch” (Angela) Tanner and Patti A. Tanner (Stephanie); nine grandchildren, Justin Carder, Jeremy Carder, Jason Tieffel, Tamara J. Mathes, Jennifer Pearce, Joshua Pearce, Hayley Lankford, Jacob Tanner, Jordan Tanner and nine great-grandchildren.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 57 years, Fred.
