William Edward Burrus (83) of rural Beecher City

William Edward Burrus, 83, of rural Beecher City, IL passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 in his home, surrounded by his family.  

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Bob Doan Cemetery in rural Beecher City.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in William’s name to the Loudon Township, %Bob Doan Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 68, Beecher City, IL 62414.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family.

William was born on April 8, 1936, the son of John Edward and Julia (Matthews) Burrus of Herrick.  William married Patsy Holman of Loudon Township on September 28, 1956 and that is where they raised their family.  William retired from Fedders Corporation in Effingham after 45 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors and his greatest joy was his family.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patsy Burrus; four children:  Bonnie (Jim) Sphar, Mike (Becky) Burrus, Marsha (Brian) Smith and Mark (Gina) Burrus; 12 grandchildren:  Crystal Sphar, Matt (Jennifer) Sphar, Justin (Vicki) Short, Nick (Megan) Burrus, Becky (Nick) Sloan, Jason Himes, Jared (Jodi) Sphar, Luke (Amy) Burrus, Jake Burrus, Caleb (Nicci) Burrus, Kara (Kris) Curtis and Danny Martin and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
