Mary Ellen Huston, age 89, of Rose Hill, Illinois, passed away 7:50 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Mary Ellen’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 1 at Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the Hunt Cemetery in rural Yale, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Mary Ellen was born on a very special day of June 12, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a date she shared with her grandmother and a great grandson. She was the daughter of Sylvester “S.S.” and Agnes (Schuster) Field. Mary Ellen married Clarence Leroy Huston on July 31, 1954, in Winona, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2005. To this union, 7 children were born, Patty, John, Mike, Susan, Harold, Roberta and Beth. Mary Ellen loved her family, she spent her time as a homemaker and babysitting. She was a member of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church, and a member of the Rose Hill Village Board. She was a proud member of the Jasper Post #20 Legion Ladies Auxiliary and spent many hours volunteering with the Auxiliary and the Annual Veteran’s Day program. Mary Ellen enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Mary Ellen is survived by 5 Children - Patty Huston of Rose Hill, Illinois; Mike (Lisa) Huston of Newton, Illinois; Susan (Rick) Stateler of Newton, Illinois; Roberta “Bert” (Randy) Wagner of Montezuma, Indiana; and Beth (Scott) Stewart of Sullivan, Indiana; 10 Grandchildren - Amanda Huston, Mindy (Alan) Hartke, Jordyn Huston, Luke (Mallory) Huston, Quentin Huston, Logan Huston, Darren (Holly) Wagner, John Huston, Jr., Nicole Stewart (fiancé Chris Ethridge), and Emily Stewart; 8 Great Grandchildren - Damien Hartke, Cassie Hartke, Katie Hartke, Kenny Hartke, Jacob Wagner, Isaiah Wagner, Joseph Huston and John Huston III; Brother - Richard (Karen) Field of Maplewood, Minnesota and several special nieces and nephews.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Harold Huston, John Huston, sister Betty Zunker, brother Robert Field.
