David L. "Bucky" Carpenter (72) of Neoga

David L. "Bucky" Carpenter, 72, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 8:30 PM Saturday, January 4, 2020, in HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
He was born November 18, 1947, the son of Herbert L. and Gladys M. (Cooley) in Mattoon, Illinois. David served in the United States Army. He married Connie Huey September 13, 1975 in Toledo, Illinois. Mr. Carpenter was retired from General Electric after 42 years and was very well known as an avid Neoga sports fan leading cheers for the teams he also loved gardening, especially strawberries. He was a member of the Neoga American Legion Post 458 of Neoga, Illinois, the V.F.W. Post 4325 and the Mattoon Moose Lodge 803 both of Mattoon, Illinois.
Bucky is survived by his wife, Connie Carpenter of Neoga, Illinois; brother, James Carpenter of Effingham, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Joyce Carpenter.
Memorials are suggested to the Neoga Booster Club or the Neoga American Legion both of Neoga, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 9 at 11:00 AM in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois with Rev. James Maroon officiating. Visitation willl be Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Drummond Cemetery east of Neoga with Military Services by the Neoga American Legion.
