Raymond E. Lorton, 86, of Beecher City, IL passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City with Brother Chad Ruot officiating. Burial will take place in Beecher City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City. Raymond was born August 20, 1933, in Bowling Green Township in Fayette County in ruralCowden, the son of Lewie and Hattie (Beck) Lorton. He and Betty L. Miller were united inholy matrimony on July 18, 1953 and she preceded him in death on July 3, 2017. Raymond lived a long and wonderful life. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Cowden and dedicated his life to the Lord, his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Raymond worked at Caterpillar in Decatur retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. Together he and Betty worked on the farm, gardening and raising puppies along with other farm animals.

Raymond is survived by his children: Dennis (Angie) Lorton of Beecher City, Rick (Melissa) Lorton of Cowden and Janet Lorton of Beecher City; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; brother, Leon Lorton ofCoolidge, AZ; sisters-in-law: Betty Lorton of Shelbyville and Francis Lorton of Cowden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; son, Roger Wayne; one great-grandchild; brothers: Ennis and Otis and sister, Lorene Gilmore.
