Glenn Dean Bond, age 85, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 3:06 AM Friday, November 29, 2019, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 3 at St.Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Brockville Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois, with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM Monday at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton and from 9:00-10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. In loving memory of Dean, memorials may be made to the C.A.N. Glenn Dean, better known as Dean was born on July 4, 1934, in rural Jasper County, Illinois,the son of Russell and Dorothy (Maples) Bond. He married the love of his life, Agnes Ann Hippler on June 17, 1954, at the St. Thomas Rectory in Newton, Illinois. Dean was a lifelong farmer and oil field worker. He owned and operated Bond Oil Production for several years. Dean served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1958, serving in Munich, Germany.

Dean was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, and the Knights of Columbus #1704 in Newton. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors, dancing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Dean was known for telling anyone and everyone a good tale or joke.

Dean is survived by: Wife of 65 years – Agnes Ann Bond of Newton, Illinois; Children – Cynthia Miller of Newton, Illinois and James (Jodi) Bond of Chauncey, Illinois; Grandchildren – Mary Alice (Zachary) Cochran of Newton, Illinois and Jesse (Amanda) Bond of Willow Hill, Illinois; 6 Great Grandchildren; Brother-in-law – Richard (Betty) Hippler of Casey, Illinois; Aunt – Wanda Matson of Newton, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons Robert and Jehu Miller; brother Bill(Midge) Bond and sisters Betty Arnone and Anna May (E.E. “Botsy”) Kerner; father and Mother-in-law George and Mary Hipper; brother-in-law Larry Hippler and a sister-in-law Donna Hippler.
