Richard C. "Dick" Sur (76) of Effingham

Richard C. “Dick” Sur, 76, of Effingham, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 3 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Richard was born on April 27, 1943, in Effingham, IL, the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Osthoff) Sur. Dick lived at home with his parents for 58 years until moving into what was later named the Sur Group Home. He eventually resided at the Oakview Group Home. Dick was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and loved to sing with the choir. He worked at the Developmental Training Center in Teutopolis for many years. Dick loved music, socializing, and participating in various activities with CSS. He also enjoyed traveling with his family. Dick was a warm-hearted person who enjoyed people.

Richard is survived by his brother, Larry (Rose Marie) Sur; sisters, Marlene (Larry, deceased) Feuerborn, Phyllis (Tom) Utz, and Anita Claricoates; 14 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and greatnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
