Leonard “Gene” Dilley, 78, of Tower Hill, IL passed away peacefully at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Heritage Health in Pana, IL with his loved ones by his side.

Gene was born on January 29, 1941, in Henton, the 14th of 17 children born to John and Estella (Sanford) Dilley. Gene and Debbie Porter were united in holy matrimony on November 10, 1990 and were blessed with nearly 30 years of marriage. Gene was a member of the Laborers’ International Union and enjoyed mushroom hunting, woodworking and was a die-hard Cardinals fan.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie Dilley of Tower Hill; children: Billy Dilley of Tower Hill, Michael Dilley of Tower Hill and Aaron (Heidi) Porter of Henton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Jones of Pana and Letha Thomas of Alabama; one brother, Woody (Nell) Dilley of Olney and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda; five sisters and eight brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Pastor Leon Goff officiating. Burial will take place in Tower Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Memorials may be made in Gene’s name to the American Kidney Fund or the American Diabetes Association.
