Velma A. "Vel" Roedl, 77, passed away peacefully Friday, November 15, 2019 at her home in Teutopolis surrounded by her loved ones.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 19 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis. Memorial donations may be given to the Effingham County Humane Society. 

Vel was born March 7, 1942 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Leo and Nellie (Tull) Trout. She owned and managed many local and surrounding area restaurants. Vel enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and pets. Vel did not know a stranger and everyone was always welcome to her dinner table. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham.

Velma is survived by her children, Rusty Blickem of Teutopolis, Marla O'Neal of Gould City, MI, Hank Blickem of Pana, Regina (Tony) Spears of Mattoon, Crystal Reynolds of FL and Jamie Roedl of Teutopolis; sisters, Maggie (Kenny) Smith of Fountain, CO and Lena Trout of Teutopolis; brother, Danny Trout of Jonesboro, GA; grandchildren, Tiffiny Golding, Tim (TerraAnn) Downs, Nikki (Blake) Tucker, Kip (Erica) Blickem, Kory Blickem, Travis Reynolds, Tanaya (Troy) Thoele, David Roedl, Jazmyne Allen, L.T. Spears, Bradlee Allen, Mac Spears and Payton Roedl-Tucker; great-grandchildren, Kaytlin Tucker, James Blickem, Gracee Tucker, Gabby Golding, Hayden Downs, Haylee Downs, Kinley Reynolds, Kael Thoele, Kade Thoele, Hadley Downs, Taten Thoele, Hayzel Downs, Jaxten Reynolds and Cooper Thoele.

Vel was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley Blickem and great-grandchild, Adah Thoele.
