Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Whitt, 61, of Vandalia passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019 at the Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois, where she had resided since October 17th. She was a patient at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia before being taken to Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, on October 2nd.

Beth was born on June 15, 1958, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, Illinois, a daughter of Arnold and Edna (Carter) Whitt of Farina. She attended LaGrove Grade School and High School until her family moved to Vandalia where her father was a guard at the Illinois Correctional Center. Beth graduated from Vandalia High School in 1977. The family moved back to Farina when her father retired and Beth rode the bus back and forth every day to her employment at Fayco Enterprises. She enjoyed her work and was a loyal and faithful employee as long as her health permitted. She had many friends at Fayco and enjoyed spending time with them and taking trips together when the opportunity arose. She also enjoyed gospel music concerts as often as possible with cousin Shirley Quick.

Beth was baptized into the First Southern Baptist Church in Farina on July 15, 1973, and moved her membership to the Unity Baptist in Vandalia in July 2015 after making a permanent move to a Fayco home in Vandalia.

Beth is survived by her mother, Edna Whitt, a resident at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Effingham; four brothers, Arnold E. Whitt (wife Donna) of Flora, Ralph Whitt of Farina, David Whitt (wife Dianne) of Stewardson, and Michael Whitt (wife Janice) of Pinckneyville; three sisters, Eileen Huelsmann (husband Ron) of Breese, Jean Alwardt of Altamont, and Jenni Heiens (husband Alan) of Farina; sister-in-law, Kattie Whitt of Merrill, Wisconsin; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold A. Whitt; brother, Donald Whitt; nephew, Brandon Whitt; brother-in-law, Orville Alwardt; and sister-in-law Kathleen Whitt.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 15 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Farina at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.. Rev. Robert Weaver, pastor of Unity Baptist Church in Vandalia, will officiate. Burial will be in the Farina Cemetery. Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home of Salem is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elizabeth Ann Whitt Memorial Fund.
