Sidney "Vernon" Greeson, 93, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 11:15 A.M. Monday, October 28, 2019, in HSHS St. John's Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

He was born March 4, 1926, the son of Ray and Martha (Tate) Greeson in Neoga, Illinois. Vernon served in the United States Army Air Force in WW II. He married Dortha Montgomery November 11, 1944 in Wichita Falls,Texas. Mr. Greeson was a retired Supervisor of Public Works for the City of Neoga. Vernon was very active in Church and community affairs and was always willing to lend a helping hand; he also built several signs for the city and cemetery. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Neoga, Illinois and helped build the current church building.

Vernon is survived by his wife of 75 years, Dortha Greeson of Neoga, Illinois; children, Carl Greeson (Beverly) of Columbia, Missouri and Carol Sue Piper of Neoga, Illinois; grandchildren, Tara Davis of Neoga, Illinois, Amy Piper of Springfield, Illinois, Bryan Piper (Elizabeth), Lakemoor, Illinois, Carrie Guy (Nick) of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Colin Greeson (Chelsea) of St. Louis, Missouri; great grandchildren, Micah Guy, Mallory Greeson and Katie Piper; sister-in-law, Carol Montgomery and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son in law, Gary Piper; brothers, Marion, Ernest and Dexter Greeson; sisters, Lois Buchanan, Nellie Burgess and Daisy Fulton; grandchildren, Charles A. "Chad" Faris II and Donna Kelly Davis.

Memorials are suggested to the Neoga Grace United Methodist Church, Heartland Senior Living, or the Donor’s Choice.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 6 in the Grace United Methodist Church of Neoga, Illinois with Pastor Rob Dillingham of Neoga officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the church. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery in Neoga, Illinois.
