David L. Ellis (76) of Altamont

David L. Ellis, 76, of Altamont died at 12:49pm Sunday, August 18, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Burial will follow at Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 Wednesday and for 1 hour prior to service time Thursday. The family requests casual attire.

David was born on Wednesday, March 3, 1943 in Decatur, Illinois to John F. and Clare E. (Davis) Ellis. He married Allegra Finfrock on November 7, 1965 at the Dexter Methodist Church, rural Altamont. He was a farmer and a military veteran and owned and operated an excavation business.

He is survived by: his wife of over 53 years, Allegra Ellis, Altamont; sons, Michael Ellis and Kevin (Wanda) Ellis, both of Altamont; daughter, Amy Ellis of Altamont; brother, Gary (Jo) Ellis of Altamont; sister-in-law, Patricia Ellis of Decatur; aunt, Dorothy Campbell of Altamont; grandchildren, Makayla Ellis, Timber Nelson, and Tabitha Parcell; great-grandchildren Annelise Gentry, Freya Gentry and Rayland Parcell; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Laura Ellis, and brother, Richard Ellis.
