Helen Faye Galloway age 87 of Newton passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Lavender Ridge, Olney, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Helen’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Bro. Carroll Ross officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery, Bogota.

Helen was born on February 12, 1932 in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Lawrence and Ima Vista (Swank) Gosnell. On June 20, 1952, Helen married Lloyd W. Galloway. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2018. In addition to being a wife and mother, Helen worked as a cashier at the Newton IGA for many years until her retirement.

Helen was a faithful member of the Bogota Church of Christ and attended the Headyville Christian Church in later years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and bowled for Pepsi in the ladies bowling league. In her free time, Helen enjoyed word puzzles, gardening and attending the area Oprys with Lloyd.

Helen will be loved and remembered by her children Cathy (Kenny) Shew of Newton, Lindell C. (Joan) Galloway of Flora, and Cheryl (Greg) Ginder of Olney; grandchildren Amy (Shane) Mashburn, Melissa (Jim) Brooks, Jeremy W. Shew, Matthew Galloway, Emily (Justin) Landreth, Ross Ginder and fiancé Carli Henry and Paige Ginder; great grandchildren Landon & Claudia Mashburn, Sydney & Seth Brooks, Alexa Gibbons, and Brendan & Beckett Landreth; great great grandchild Kayson Mashburn and a new addition coming in January; brother Bill (Carol) Gosnell of Florida and Margaret Fehrenbacher of Olney; brother-in-law Larry (Patricia) Galloway of Cisne.

Her parents, husband Lloyd, son David William Galloway and siblings Wayne Gosnell and Shirley Gosnell preceded her in death.

Memorial gifts in honor of Helen may be made to the Honey Cemetery Care Fund.
